അഭിയും ഞാനും

ഒരു വ്യത്യസ്തമായ കോണ്‍സെപ്റ്റ് വെച്ച് വളരെ നന്നായി ചെയ്ത സോഫ്റ്റ്‌ പടം. തൃഷയും പ്രകാശ്‌ രാജും വളരെ നന്നായി അഭിനയിച്ച പടം. “ഒരേ ഒരു ഊരിലെ” പാട്ട് ഇന്നും എന്റെ മനസ്സില്‍ മൂളുമ്പോള്‍ ഒരു ശാന്തത തരുന്നു. വേലക്കാരന്റെ റോള്‍ വളരെ നന്നായിരിക്കുന്നു .

ഒരു പ്രാവശ്യം കാണുക, പാട്ടുകള്‍ എടുത്തു വെക്കുക.

Bye Bye Mysore

After 4 and a half years in mysore, time to say good bye. Moving on to the garden city as any ITian finally does.
Bangalore .. the city of dogs, IT, and Traffic. From now, I can crib about the damn traffic light which keeping me stuck for 90 secs, the driving rashly, the city moving uncaringly. But as anyone, even I will get stuck in the speedy life, even I will understand moving on as a motto.

Mysore.. you have a big place in my heart, the roads, the palace, the Kacheris, yuva dussera, the friends i made. Alvida to all and one.

HTC Desire Review

The HTC Desire.

Well depends on where u are and what mobile and data connection you have. In India , only bsnl provides 3g and its damn costly. u cna use ur net connection if u r using a wireless router to connect to net. Without net, its nto much . the music and video are awesome, as expected , so is the camera.

android is a great os if u know how to play with it. battery life is low, due to the big ass screen, and u require a USb charger to charge it. 1.5 days for fheavy usage w/o net..

No front camera, so cant make video calls . no camera cover for back, so more chances of scrated and dust. touch screen is nice . if u dont push in too much spurious apps, should work fine.

And ps: If u dont know andriod, u can learn, but limited usage options

Raavanan – A comparison between Hindi and Tamil

Saw the Tamil version of the movie today. I finally understood some of the dialogues that I jumped through in Hindi. And once I understood the dialogues, liked Hindi better. Abhishek Bachan did a wonderful job in Hindi, which am not sure if Vikram was able to reproduce in Tamil. Prithviraj did a good job as the villainous RamanJ. Songs felt much better in Hindi except “Usure pokuthe”, which was as good as “Behene De”.

So basically, Tamil version is better for understanding the story, but character “Raavan” was better in Hindi. Songs sounded better in Hindi than Tamil.

After Thought : Seethayude Agni Pareeksha ennu parayunnath Seetaye mathramalla Raavanneyum apamaanikkunnath pole alle? Athu pole Shoorpanakayude mookkum mulayum chethi ennu parayunnath symbolic aayano raamayanathil udhesichath ennu chintippikkunnu ee Film.

P.S: I am not sure if watching Hindi first affected my review in any way. It’s up to you to make their own assumptions.

ഇന്ന് അങ്ങനെ Much awaited ആയി പോയി രാവന്‍ കണ്ടു.

ഈ പടം കാണാന്‍ പോകുമ്പോള്‍ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കേണ്ട കാര്യം. ഹിന്ദി സംഭാഷണം കൊറച്ച് പിടിപാട് വേണം. ഇല്ലേല്‍ ഊഹിച്ചു വായിച്ച പൂരിപ്പിച് എടുക്കണ്ടി വരും.

ആദ്യം പറയണ്ട കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ , ചായാഗ്രഹണം . സന്തോഷ്‌ ശിവന്‍ മികവു തെളിയിക്കുന്നു. ഗ്രീനെറി ഒക്കെ ഷൂട്ട്‌ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത് അതി മനോഹരം.
രണ്ടാമത്, സംഗീതം . റെഹ്മാന്‍ അതി മനോഹരമായി കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. സിനിമ സോങ്ങ്സ് പോരാതെ ബാക്ക്ഗ്രൌണ്ട് മ്യൂസിക്‌ ഒക്കെ കിടിലന്‍ .
സംവിധാനം. മണി രത്നം എന്നെന്നും വ്യത്യസ്തന്‍ . നന്നായി എടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
കഥ: കേട്ട് ഭയപെട്ട പോലെ ഒന്നും അല്ലാതെ അധികം ബോര്‍ ആക്കാതെ തീര്‍ത്തു.

അഭിനയം: വിക്രം ഹിന്ദി പറയാന്‍ പോര എന്ന് തോന്നി ചില ഇടത്ത് . അഭിഷേക് ബച്ചന്‍ ചില സമയം നന്നായെങ്ങിലും ചില സമയം മികച്ചു നിന്നില്ല.
ഐശ്വര്യ റായി പതിവ് പോലെ ഭംഗി കൊണ്ട് എന്നെ കീഴ്പെടുത്തി. പക്ഷെ അഭിനയം ചില സന്കീര്‍ണനിമിഷങ്ങളില്‍ മോശമായി തോന്നി.

സംഭാഷണം: ഹിന്ദി ലോക്കല്‍ ആയി യുസ് ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. അത് വളരെ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ട ഉണ്ടാക്കുകയും വിരസത ഉണര്‍ത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു. ചില കമ്പ്ലീറ്റ്‌ വരികള്‍ മനസിലാവാതെ പോയി.
സാധാരണ സൌത്ത് ഇന്ത്യന്‍സ് കണ്ടാല്‍ ഇഷ്ടപെടില്ല. അവര്‍ക്ക് തമിഴ് തന്നെ ശരണം.

സ്ക്രിപ്റ്റില്‍ ചില ഭാഗങ്ങള്‍ ഇച്ചിരി ഓവര്‍ ആയി തോന്നിയെങ്ങിലും പടം മൊത്തത്തില്‍ ഒരു വ്യതാസം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

പോസിറ്റീവ്സ് : ചായാഗ്രഹണം, മ്യൂസിക്‌ , സംവിധാനം , സ്ഥലങ്ങള്‍ , ബാക്ക്ഗ്രൌണ്ട് മ്യൂസിക്‌ .

നെഗറ്റീവ്സ് : സ്ക്രിപ്റ്റ്, കടിച്ചാല്‍ പൊട്ടാത്ത സംഭാഷണം, ചില നേരത്തെ അഭിനയം .

അവസാന വാക്ക് : 7/10 വരെ കൊടുക്കാം. പടം കണ്ടിരിക്കാം, മ്യൂസിക്‌ ആസ്വദിക്കാം. സ്ഥലം കണ്ടു വിസ്മരിക്കാം. ക്യാമറ കണ്ടു തരിക്കാം, പക്ഷെ പടം ഫീല്‍ ഗുഡ് ആയി തോന്നിയില്ല.

Repeated warnings വക വെക്ക്യാതെ ഞാന്* സുല്*ത്താന്* ബത്തേരി ഐശ്വര്യയില്* പോയി പടം കണ്ടപ്പോള്* എനിക്ക് ഇങ്ങനെയാണ് തോന്നിയത്!

അലക്സാണ്ടര്* കാണാന്* വയനാട്ടില്* പോവാം എന്ന് നിരുവിച്ചു ഇറങ്ങിയ ഞാന്*, അവസാനം ചെന്ന് പെട്ടതോ. സിംഹത്തിന്റെ മടയില്*! സിംഹം എന്നൊക്കെ പറഞ്ഞാല്* നല്ല zooല്* കിടക്കുന്ന സിംഹം. !!

ആദ്യമായി എന്റെ ചോദ്യം – പ്രിത്വി രാജിന് എന്ത് കാരണം കൊണ്ടാണ് മമ്മൂട്ടി ഇത്രയും പ്രോമോറേന്* കൊടുത്തത്? ഇതിനു വേണ്ടി പ്രിത്വി എന്താണ് വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തത്?
രണ്ടാമതേ എന്റെ ചോദ്യം – ഇവര്* ഒന്നും ഈ പടം കണ്ടിട്ടില്ലേ? അതോ കഥ കേട്ടിട്ടില്ലേ? എനിക്ക് മനസിലാവുന്നില്ല..!!

സ്ക്രിപ്റ്റ് എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചാല്* ശ്രീനിവാസന്* ചിന്തവിഷ്ടയില്* പറഞ്ഞ പോലെ “സ്ക്രിപ്റ്റ് ഇല്ല” എന്ന് തന്നെ തോന്നി. കൊല്ലങ്കോട് ഗ്രാമം പോലും!!. അങ്കമാലിയോ ചാലക്കുടിയോ പോലെ ഉള്ള ടൌണ്* ആണ് മനുഷ്യരെ കൊല്ലങ്കോട്!! അതരിയാവുന്ന എല്ലാര്ക്കും സത്യമായും കലി വരും!! പിന്നെ ഉത്സവം, അടി, രണ്ടു കുടുംബം. ഇതൊക്കെ എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം പറഞ്ഞു നശിപ്പിച് കൊളമാക്കിയിട്ടില്ലേ? ഇനിയും പോരെ ? കഷ്ടം!!.

Direction അഥവാ സംവിധാനം – മ്ലെച്ചം! അധിലും കൂടുതല്* ഒന്നുമില്ല..

സംഗീതം – പാട്ടെയുതിയ കൈതപ്രതിനെ തല്ലാന്* തോന്നി എനിക്ക് , പിന്നെ മനസിലായി സംഗീതത്തിനെ വശക്കെടായിരുന്നു എന്ന്. ശബ്ദ കോലാഹലമായിരുന്നു പടം. ബാക്ക്ഗ്രൂന്ദ്* മുസിക്കും സൌണ്ട് എഫ്ഫക്റ്റ്* ഉം കൂടി മനുഷ്യന്റെ തല മരവിപ്പിച്ചു!!

അഭിനയം – പ്രിത്വി മുഴു നീളം ഇളിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് ഇരിക്കുന്നു. അവന്റെ കൊറച്ച് അഭിനയം കൊള്ളാം, ബാക്കി അധികപറ്റ്യിരുന്നു ! മമ്മൂട്ടി ഡാന്*സ് ശ്രമിക്കതിരുന്നൂടെ? കഷ്ടം തന്നെ!! നെടുമുടി വേണുവിന്റെ അഭിനയം ചില സന്ദര്*ഭങ്ങളില്* പുരികം ച്ചുളിപ്പിചിരുന്നെങ്ങിലും കൊഴപ്പമില്ല. സലിം കുമാറിന് റോളില്ല . സുരാജ് കസറി . ബാക്കി എല്ലാരും വേസ്റ്റ് ഓഫ് ടൈം !. വില്ലന്മാരുടെ റോള്* കൊറേ കൂടി ശക്തമാക്കാംയിരുന്നു.

ഫൈറ്റ് സീന്*സ് – കനല്* കണ്ണനെയും മാഫിയ ശശിയെയും വീടിളിരുത്താന്* തോന്നി അടി കണ്ടപ്പോള്*. കേബിള്* കയറ്റി ചാക്ക് കെട്ടി ഇല്ലാത്ത ഒരടിയും ഇവന്മാര്*ക്കരിയില്ലേ? വില്ലന്മാര്* മുഴുവന്* ആകാശത്ത് ആണല്ലോ മിക്കവാറും! ഇവരൊക്കെ സ്പിടെര്* മാന്റ്റെ കുടുംബക്കാരാണോ ?

ആകെ മൊത്തം – Totally avoidable

പിന്* കുറിപ്പ്: ഇതിന്റെ കുറ്റം നിര്*മാതവിനെയോ മമ്മൂട്ടിയെയോ പ്രിത്വിയെയോ സംവിധായകനെയോ പറഞ്ഞിട്ട കാര്യമില്ല. പടം കഴിഞ്ഞു ഇറങ്ങുമ്പോള്* കണ്ട ജനാവലി അത് സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു!! മലയാള സിനിമ പ്രേക്ഷകരാണ് ഇതിന്റെ ഉത്തരവാദി!!

Titans Clash- Review

ഞാന്‍ പണ്ട് സ്കൂളില്‍ പഠിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ആണു ആദ്യമായി ക്ലാഷ് ഓഫ് ടൈടെന്‍സ് കാണുന്നത്. അത് 1981ഇല്‍ റിലീസ് ചെയ്ത പകര്‍പ് ആയിരുന്നു. ആ നേരിയ ഓര്‍മയില്‍ ആണു ഞാന്‍ ഇപ്രാവശ്യം clash of titans കാണാന്‍ പോയത്. Sam worthington വല്യ “worth” അല്ലെങ്കിലും പടത്തിലെ ഗ്രാഫിക്സ് usage ഉം neo-scientific ടെക്നോളജി usage ഉം പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചാണ് ഞാന്‍ പോയത്.
എനിക്ക് നിരാശപെടെണ്ടി വന്നില്ല. വിചാരിച്ച പോലെ തന്നെ ഗ്രാഫിക്സ് ഇല്‍ പടം മികച്ചു. 3d യില്‍ കണ്ടാല്‍ പടം നല്ല ഇടിവെട്ട് പോലെ തോന്നും. ചില scenes വളരെ എടുത്തു പറയേണ്ടതായിരുന്നു.
സ്റ്റോറി wise നോക്കുകയാനെങ്ങില്‍, പഴയ COT പോലെ അല്ലാതെ വ്യത്യസ്തമായി നിന്നു ഈ പടം. കൊരച് changes വരുത്തി, കൊരച് മാനുഷിക ഭാവങ്ങള്‍ വരുത്തി കേറ്റി storyline ചെറുതായിട്ട് വീക്ക് ആയോ എന്ന് തോന്നി. പക്ഷെ ലയാം നെല്‍സണ്‍ടെയും ബാക്കി നടന്മാരുടെയും അഭിനയം പടത്തെ രക്ഷിച്ചു.
പടത്തിലെ positives താഴെ:

1. ഗ്രാഫിക്സ്
2. സംഘട്ടന രംഗങ്ങള്‍
3. മ്യൂസിക്‌ ( കൊഴപ്പമില്ല എന്ന് തോന്നി )

Negatives:

1. പഴയ പദത്തിന്റെ കഥ തട്ടിച് നോക്കിയാല്‍ വീക്ക് സ്റ്റോറി ലൈന്‍.
2. Sam Worthingtonടെ ആക്ടിംഗ് ഇപ്പോഴും പോര എന്ന് എനിക്ക് തോന്നി.
3. കൊരച് ഗ്രീക്ക് ഹിസ്റ്ററി അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
4. ലക്ഷ്മിയില്‍ ബാല്കനിയില്‍ സൌണ്ട് കൊറവ്ആണു .

ആകെ മൊത്തം, ഗ്രാഫിക്സ് നിറഞ്ഞ ഒരു 3d ഇടി പടം

മീനുകുട്ടി

ഒരു ദിവസം എന്‍റെ ജീവിതത്തിലേക്ക് ഇരമ്പി വന്ന മീനുകുട്ടി. ദിവസസ്ങ്ങള്‍ തള്ളി മാത്രം അല്ല നീങ്ങുന്നത് എന്ന് അവള്‍ ഞങ്ങളെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചു. അവളുടെ കുനുങ്ങളും ചിരികളും വീട്ടില്‍ അല തള്ളി.. അവള്‍..

Varuvaaya?

Film: Vinnai Thandi Varuvaaya

Theatre: PVR.

Status: 75% full.

The starting credits in the was nice, the water flowing and the titles with English as the shadow was nice.

The movie has a typical Gautam touch. A script with more narration than screenplay, a beautiful actress portrayed nicely, songs shot in a superb different angle, (including a shot of Chimbu driving a bike near the sea – which to me looked like Kannur sea path entry), a few scenes from America (as expected), and a nice screen capture of the love essence.

Songs which seemed just nice when you hear it outside became great when watching the movie. Chimbu performed well under the circumstance that he was type cast to be an adi-thada actor. “Kannukkal kannai” song was so good, seemed to remind me more and more for AR rehman music.

The side actor (cameraman) and his dialogues were awesome, and kept the movie alive. The comments about Gautam menon (Tamil movie with English dialogue) and the acting of KS ravikumar were nice. Trisha was just great to look at, and just ok to act.

The story was only weak point that I saw in the movie. The story was practically normal and if not for Gautam, it would have been average.

Bottom line: Feel good movie, well, if u can say so. Highly romantic, not for the weak hearted, but with a bony story.
